The Boomerang Alliance's Recycling Refund Scheme will be independent of the beverage companies and non-profit. The price of beverages will only increase by a 10cent deposit and this amount will be refunded if container is returned; and if not, the deposit will be used to run recycling operations and litter clean ups.

There's a solution – a 10cent RecycleRefund scheme. Governments must show the public they can stand up to beverage industry's misleading campaign and intimidation tactics. Coca Cola, Lion and Schweppes took the Northern Territory government to court and stopped its Cash for Containers scheme that has recycled 54 million containers in just one year. Their alternative could not achieve this – it's too little, too late – and intended to delay a real solution. I want clean beaches, rivers and parks. I want effective recycling solutions for the beverage packaging I consume. It is crucial your government show it will not be intimidated by the tactics of Coke and its allies. I understand the Boomerang Alliance's Recycling Refund Scheme will be independent of the beverage companies and non-profit. It will see the price of my favourite beverages only increase by a 10cents deposit and that this amount will be refunded if I return the container to a convenient recycling depot. I also understand that if I don't return my container, my deposit will be used to run recycling operations and litter clean ups. This will: - significantly lift our recycling rates of glass, plastic and metal beverage containers - virtually eliminate beverage container litter, including marine pollution - help charities - create many new jobs - create funds for broader litter and recycling programs - support hundreds of new convenient drop-off centres for other products like batteries and e-waste, as well. No other option can provide all these benefits.
